When quarterback Jacob Coker left the Seminoles, he hoped for a chance to play somewhere else. Well, that is exactly what he’s going to get. In fact, he’s favored to win the starting role at Alabama, to replace new NFL rookie, AJ McCarron.
Other college football teams aren’t too thrilled about the possibility of Alabama getting another star QB to lead the team. Even FSU coach Jimbo Fisher says that Coker is definitely an upgrade for the team.
According to NFL.com, Fisher says that Coker is better than any quarterback Nick Saban has had at Alabama. Coker is talented, all the way around.
I don’t think that Fisher is trying to discredit the past successful quarterbacks who made their mark in crimson and white. Let’s not forget that all three of the QBs in the Saban era have made it into the NFL.
The ironic thing about this is that Coker just sort of fell into Saban’s lap. Fisher is the one who coddled him from the beginning and helped shape him into the quarterback he is about to become, under Saban.
Funny how that works, right? The only problem is that Coker has never actually started a college game before. He has seen success as a backup for Jameis Winston, during his time in Tallahassee. Still, there’s a lot of hype around his name and it’s only June.
He has all summer to perfect his skills. August will be here before we know it.
