The start of the 2014 college football season is only a few months away. Florida State will kick-off against Oklahoma State in Dallas on August 30th. In preparation for the new season the Vegas odds-makers have released their 2014 Heisman trophy odds. FSU quarterback Jameis Winston enters as the favorite to defend his title at 5/2 odds.
Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota is second at 5/1 odds and Ohio State’s Braxton Miller is third at 11/2 odds. The top non-quarterback on the list is Georgia running back Todd Gurley who is fourth on the list at 12/1 odds. The only defensive player on the list is UCLA linebacker Myles Jack who is tied for 18th at 33/1 odds. Jack split time at running back last season as a freshman when he rushed for 265 yards during a three game span late in the season.
Winston was not the only Seminole to make an appearance on the list either. Senior running back Karlos Williams tied for 18th with Jack and two others players at 33/1 odds. Williams made the switch from safety to running back early last season and finished the season as FSU’s second leading rusher with 748 yards and 11 touchdowns on 91 carries. He is expect to be FSU’s top running back next season after Devonta Freeman and James Wilder Jr. decided to declare early for the NFL draft. The entire list can be found here
