TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State’s Jose Brizuela was named ACC Player of the Week for the first time in his career following his outstanding weekend against intra-state rival Miami.
Brizuela led No. 2 Florida State to a fifth-straight regular-season series victory over No. 14 Miami this past weekend as the Seminoles won the second and third games after falling in game one. Brizuela led the Seminoles with a .462 average, posting team highs in hits (6) and RBIs (6).
The junior third baseman tied a career-high with back-to-back three-hit games on Saturday and Sunday. Brizuela drove in four runs on a double and two singles in Saturday’s 10-2 win and followed with three singles, two RBIs and a run scored as Florida State won by a 13-6 score on Sunday.
The Weston, Fla., native was also perfect from the field at third base on all 11 of his chances.
Brizuela and the Seminoles are back in action Tuesday night in Tampa as Florida State faces USF for a two-game mid-week series.
