No school placed more players on the 2013 Preseason All-ACC Football Team than defending conference champion Florida State, league officials announced Wednesday morning.
FSU student-athletes comprise six spots on the annual team as voted on by media gathered at the ACC’s football kickoff event; three on offense and three on defense. North Carolina’s four total selections were second most in the conference.
On offense, junior right guard Tre’ Jackson and redshirt senior center Bryan Stork are first-time Preseason All-ACC selections. The same is true for junior running back James Wilder, Jr., who joins them in one of the two spots tabbed for running backs.
Defensively, junior Timmy Jernigan, senior linebacker Christian Jones and senior cornerback Lamarcus Joyner have also been recognized by the media on the preseason squad. The announcement marks the second year in a row that Joyner has been named Preseason All-ACC but it’s his first time earning such an honor as a cornerback after he switched from safety this off-season.
Jernigan and Jones are on the Preseason All-ACC Football Team for the first time in their careers. Jernigan is the only non-senior among defensive players selected this year.
