TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher says his team’s game against Maryland should be called a Red Badge of Courage contest.
The Seminoles (3-3, 1-2 Atlantic Coast Conference) have revamped much of their offense this season because of injury while Maryland comes to town Saturday having to use a bunch of inexperienced players on defense because of the injury bug.
Both teams have indeed been hit hard with injuries.
Florida State’s injury report has nine players out for Saturday’s game — seven on offense. Maryland (2-4, 1-2 ACC) has even more with 11 players sidelined for the Florida State game including six key defensive players.
Maryland has never won in 10 previous trips to Tallahassee.
