UF RHP Jonathan Crawford Drafted By Tigers

Florida righthanded pitcher Jonathan Crawford’s up-and-down junior season ended on a high note when the Detroit Tigers selected him with the No. 20 pick Thursday night in the MLB Draft.

Crawford became the highest drafted Gators pitcher John Burke in 1991 and the ninth pitcher selected in the 2013 draft.

Pitching for a young team without consistent hitting, the 6-foot-2, 205-pound Crawford began the season 0-4, but bounced back and pitched well from there to finish 3-6 with an earned run average of 3.84. He had 69 strikeouts in 86.2 innings pitched.
