NBA Draft Preview: Former Gators Standout Patric Young

The 2014 NBA Draft is just a day away and Florida fans are anxious to see which team’s roster former Gators center and current NBA Draft prospect Patric Young ends up on next season. The four-year standout player under head coach Billy Donovan had a busy spring visiting 13 teams for interviews, workouts, and working hard at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida preparing for Thursday’s Draft.

The Southeastern Conference Defensive Player or the Year and AP All-American has either worked out for or visited officials from the San Antonio Spurs, New York Knicks, Chicago Bulls, Oklahoma City Thunder, Los Angeles Clippers, Dallas Mavericks, Philadelphia 76ers, Phoenix Suns, Houston Rockets, Minnesota Timberwolves, and more.

Young is projected to go late in the first-round or early in the second-round and is the only Florida Player eligible for the draft who seems certain to be selected tomorrow night. Casey Prather and Scottie Wilbekin may be selected late in the second–round or have the opportunity to make a roster as a free agent. Young will be watching the draft with his family back home in Jacksonville, Florida.

Florida’s “big man” uploaded this photo on Instagram following his last workout before heading back to Jacksonville. The caption says, “This sums up how I feel after 13 workouts in 13 cities. Glad to finally be going back home.
There’s a lot of chatter and rumors surrounding Young and this year’s talented draft class. While his future remains uncertain, many analysts predict the Florida product to be selected by the San Antonio Spurs or the New York Knicks.

The 2014 NBA Draft is scheduled for Thursday night at 7 PM on ESPN.
