Patric Young Still Chasing NBA Dream

Former Florida Gators most draft-worthy prospect Patric Young is still hopeful of making an NBA roster and accomplishing his lifelong dream of playing at the next level.

Within 24 hours after not being selected in the 2014 NBA draft, Young landed a spot with the New Orleans Pelicans summer league which begins  in Orlando on July 5th. The Jacksonville native was projected to go in the late-first to early-second round of the draft but shockingly was not one of the 60 selections. The 6-foot-10 250 pound big man, confirmed on Twitter.

According to Gainesville Sun reporter Kevin Brockway, Young says that despite going undrafted, he’s still looking forward to proving that he can play in the NBA.

Meanwhile, Former University of Florida point guard Scottie Wilbekin who also went undrafted, has accepted summer league invitations with both the Memphis Grizzlies in Orlando and the Philadelphia 76ers in Las Vegas.

There were no Gators selected in this year’s NBA Draft despite a successful 2013-2014 season which included a Final Four appearance, finishing 36-3 last season, and entering the NCAA Tournament as the No. 1 overall seed, but you can definitely expect Young’s name to be added to a team’s roster within the next few weeks – maybe even Wilbekin and Prather’s as well.
