University of Florida offensive lineman Jonotthan Harrison was named to the 2013 Rimington Trophy Preseason Watch List, announced by the Rimington Trophy committee Tuesday. It marks the second year in a row that Harrison was included in the watch list for the award that annually honors the nation’s top center.
Harrison, a fifth-year senior from Groveland, Fla., has played in 39 career games at Florida with 27 starts. He was named to Phil Steele’s Preseason All-SEC Third Team this summer.
The Rimington Trophy is presented annually to the Most Outstanding Center in NCAA Division I-A College Football. Since its inception, the Rimington Trophy has raised over $2 million. The twelve-year old award is overseen by the Boomer Esiason Foundation, which is committed to finding a cure for cystic fibrosis and has raised over $100 million for CF Research. The award is voted on by four prestigious committees – American Football Coaches Association, Walter Camp Foundation, Sporting News, and Football Writers Association of America.
The winner will be honored at the Rimington Trophy Presentation banquet at the Rococo Theater in Lincoln, Nebraska on January 11, 2014.
