GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Florida running back Chris Rainey is limited in practice because of an ankle injury.
Rainey twisted his right ankle against Georgia, but offensive coordinator Charlie Weis says the team’s leading rusher is probable for Saturday’s game against Vanderbilt.
Rainey leads the Gators in rushing and receiving, the only player in the country to lead his team in both categories. He has 526 yards rushing and two touchdowns, and 20 receptions for 305 yards and two scores. He also returned a blocked punt for a touchdown.
Weis says Rainey’s injury could keep him limited in practice all week. Because Rainey’s entire game is his speed, Weis says the Gators are better off limiting his snaps and getting him as healthy as possible for the Commodores.
