Florida Eliminated From Baseball Tournament

In need of a win to boost its postseason resume, the Gators baseball team continued its freefall during the opening round of the SEC tournament.

Florida’s 6-3 loss Tuesday night to conference newcomer Texas A&M eliminated the Gators (29-28) and leaves their string of five straight NCAA tournament appearances at the mercy of the selection committee. Bids will be announced Monday.

Florida played the nation’s toughest schedule but will be a hard sell based on the final month of the season, culminating with the loss to Texas A&M (31-25). The Gators won just two of their final 11 SEC games and were 4-8 overall in May, with wins against overmatched Florida A&M and Florida Atlantic.
