The star of last night’s show was Houston’s Danuel House. He paced the Cougars with 17 points and nine rebounds as Houston used a late run to beat the visitors from South Florida 78-69.
House had some help with L.J. Rose with16 points and Jherrod Stiggers chipped in 15 points for the Cougars (16-14, 8-9 American), who shot 55 percent, including 12 of 23 3-pointers and made 12 of 14 free throws.
Tough night for USF but their star Victor Rudd had 25 points, and Martino Brock added 19 points for the Bulls (12-18, 3-14), who dropped their seventh straight game.
USF kept the game close with the score tied at 59, but then the Cougars went on a 15-3 run and that was all it took to seal the victory for Houston.
Saturday it will be Temple visiting the Sun Dome it what will be the Bulls final game before next week’s conference tournament in Memphis.
