Colin Kaepernick Being Investigated for Sexual Assault
The most recent news stemming out of San Francisco involves QB Colin Kaepernick and sexual assault allegations. 49ers fan are hoping that this is not true.
According to USA Today Sports, Kaepernick is currently being investigated for a possible sexual assault. TMZ has reported that the alleged incident took place at a Miami hotel last month. They’re also reporting that Kaepernick was at the same hotel this past weekend, and he seemed to be in a good mood.
For some reason, these kinds of allegations eventually turn into a “he-said-she said” type of situation. At this time, there have not been any charges filed against him.
Here’s the official statement from the team:
”The 49ers organization is aware of the recent media report regarding Colin Kaepernick and is in the process of gathering the pertinent facts.”
An incident report has been released and it isn’t very specific as to exactly what happened. According to Pro Football Talk, the report identifies Kaepernick, 49ers receiver Quinton Patton, and Seahawks receiver Ricardo Lockette as suspects.
A copy of the report was obtained by CSN Bay Area, and it explains that an unidentified woman went to Lockette’s apartment in Miami and Kaepernick and Patton were there. She later “mixed some drinks for all of them and gave them shots.” She claims that the men “told her that to drink the shots, she had to ‘hit’ the bong which contained marijuana.”
The woman says after she felt lightheaded, she went to a bedroom to lay down. Kaepernick allegedly entered the room “and started kissing her.” After “undressing her,” Kaepernick left the room. She says she waited naked in the bed, and Patton and Lockette opened to look inside. She says she told them to leave so they closed the door and left, and she remembers nothing after that.
This woman claims that she woke up in a hospital bed, not recalling how she got there. She also said that she has had a sexual relationship in the past with Kaepernick.
It’s possible that the main problem the NFL will have to address in this situation is the presence of marijuana in a player’s home.
