Alex Cobb [2] (7-2, 2.94 ERA) returned to the mound for the first time since being struck by a line drive off the bat of Eric Hosmer [3] on the Kansas City Royals on June 15th.

He was impressive in his return going 5 innings allowing 1R/ER on 3 hits while striking out 6 and walking 2. The only mistake he made was deposited in the right field stands off the bat off Raul Ibanez [4].

The only time he ran into trouble was in his final frame of work where he allowed a ground rule double (on what was a foul ball) and then issued back to back walk to load the bases with 2-outs but came back to strike out Nick Franklin [5] to end the inning.

With the game tied at 1-1 in the bottom of the fifth the Rays offense broke out and put up 4 runs on a 2-RBI double by Wil Myers [6] and a 2-run home run by Evan Longoria [7].

Alex Torres [8] worked a scoreless 6th inning, Jamey Wright [9] held the Mariners scoreless in both the 7th and 8th inning, and Wesley Wright [10] worked a scoreless 9th. Overall the trio of relievers worked 4 scoreless innings allowing 2 hits striking out 4 and walking 2.

Sean Rodriguez [11], Wil Myers [6], Evan Longoria [7], and Yunel Escobar [12] all had multi-hit games with Wil Myers leading the way with 3 hits including two doubles, four  RBI, two runs scored, and he reached on a hit by pitch as well.

Evan Longoria hit his 23rd home run on the season.
