Not only is the receiver trying to learn the offense and make the team, he’s also keeping close tabs on his terminally ill niece.
Clemons’ 3-year-old niece, Maiyanna, was diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma in May. It’s an inoperable tumor on her brain stem.
Kids typically survive less than a year after being diagnosed. There is no known cause or cure. Ultimately the brain cancer slowly robs motor function, resulting in partial paralysis, loss of voice and sight and an inability to eat and breathe.
It’s changed Clemons life.
Now, he’s trying to make plays on the field and make plans with Maiy off it. He wants to take her to as many amusement parks as possible.
