Chris Paul To Accept Clippers’ Extension
Chris Paul was expected to verbally agree to a five-year, $107 million contract extension with the Los Angeles Clippers shortly after the team is able to officially offer it to him, beginning at 12:01 a.m. ET Monday morning, sources have told ESPN.
Paul can’t sign his new contract until July 10 but could agree to terms as of Monday morning.
Paul tweeted earlier Sunday from the BET Awards in Los Angeles, and thus might not have been in a position to agree to terms Sunday night.
ESPN The Magazine’s Chris Broussard reported Saturday that Paul’s representatives have told teams to not even bother pursuing the point guard when free agency begins because he planned to re-sign with the Clippers.
