Catchin’ Up: Bucs Weekly Recap for June 9 – 15

Behind on Bucs news this week? Not to worry. Here’s a recap of what you may have missed this week:
The team addressed depth on the offensive line by trading a sixth-round pick to the Chicago Bears in exchange for Gabe Carimi . The former first-round selection, who was hampered by a knee injury at the start of his career, was at One Buc Place for mandatory minicamp, which began Tuesday.
“I think it just set me back last year,” Carimi said about the knee. “I wasn’t at full strength. I’m just looking forward to this year.”
Carimi welcomes the opportunity to reunite with former college coach Bob Bostad, who now serves as the Bucs offensive line coach. The biggest lesson that Bostad taught on him in college? “His hard work and his intensity, just having to bring that every day,” said Carimi.
He lined up at right tackle in practice, but could also play guard. I discuss where he fits best in this video here .
As far as the offense goes, Josh Freeman looked sharp, throwing touchdowns to both Mike Williams and Vincent Jackson. You can read more about who stood out in this Bucs Minicamp Day One Notebook .
Darrelle Revis was at One Buc Place doing agility work on a field adjacent to where the team was practicing. He was on the field for about an hour Tuesday getting some work in, before joining his teammates. Coach Schiano said he’s been working “overtime” to get back in time for camp.
Here’s more of a Darrelle Revis injury update , with my thoughts on where he’s at in his rehabilitation.
NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Kasey Kahne paid a visit to One Buc Place on Tuesday. Find out how the visit went and hear what quarterback Josh Freeman had to say about Kahne here .
On day two of camp, the Bucs announced the signing of fourth-round draft pick Mike Glennon to a four-year deal worth $3.1 million . Glennon was the final member of the 2013 draft class to sign.
Glennon struggled a bit in practice on Wednesday, although my guess is, these are growing pains of learning a new offense and he’ll be much further along when training camp opens at the end of July.
Rookie cornerback Johnthan Banks had a nice pick off Glennon. Here’s more on who stood out on Day Two of Bucs Minicamp . I went into more detail with my observations on the Charlie Bernstein Show .
The Bucs got in enough work over the course of two days to spend day three doing some team-bonding. Instead of practicing in the sweltering heat, players went to an advance screening of World War Z .
Aside from the movies, the Bucs announced a roster move Thursday, signing veteran receiver Derek Hagan and releasing rookie Jheranie Boyd.
Players report to training camp at the end of July.
