Cardinals And Dodgers Open Up NLCS Tonight
The Cards advanced in five games over Pittsburgh in the divisional playoffs while the Dodgers needed just four games to eliminate the Braves. During the regular season, the Cards and Dodgers met seven times with L.A. coming out on top four times.
The first game pitching has Joe Kelly going for the Cardinals against Zack Greinke (GREHN’-kee).
This is the third straight appearance in the NLCS for St. Louis.
The winner of this series will take on the winner of the Boston-Detroit American League Championship Series. The opening game in that best-of-seven affair will take place tomorrow night in Boston’s Fenway Park.
The Tigers advanced to the ALCS with a 3-0 win last night over the Athletics. Justin Verlander turned in an outstanding performance, going eight innings. He had a no-hitter until Yeonis Cespedes (yoh-EH’-nehs SEHS’-peh-dehs) hit a single with two outs in the seventh. He retired the first 16 batters before walking Josh Reddick in the sixth.
