Canes Hoops Hands Norfolk State Loss

Miami started the second-half on an 12-0 run and built a 22-point lead, one they would not surrender in a 64-49 win against the visiting Norfolk State Spartans.
Rion Brown scored 15 points as Miami snapped a three-game losing streak Saturday.
The Hurricanes never trailed after a late first half run that resulted in a double-digit lead at halftime.
Manu Lecomte scored 13 points and Garrius Adams finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Hurricanes (11-10). The win was Miami’s first since a 56-42 Atlantic Coast Conference victory at Georgia Tech on Jan. 18.
3-pointers from Lecomte and Adams helped Miami on a 12-0 surge to start the second half that stretched a 10-point halftime lead at to 43-21. Tonye Jeriki’s jumper capped the run with 14:19 remaining.
Riley Maye’s jumper with 14:02 remaining ended a field goal scoring drought of 11:05 for the Spartans. Norfolk State missed 13 consecutive shots before Maye’s conversion.
Williams scored 21 points and Goode finished with 14 for the Spartans (12-10).
Starting 5: Manu Lecomte, Rion Brown, Garrius Adams, Donnavan Kirk and Tonye Jekiri.
Miami’s first points came on a Manu Lecomte three at the 18:45 mark.
All five Miami starters scored and three Canes starters scored in double figures.
Miami started the second half on an 12-0 run, pushing their lead to 22, the largest of the game.
Rion Brown scored in double figures (15) for the 16th time this season. He also had seven boards against NSU. He has recorded seven or more rebounds in 11 games this season. Entering the 2013-14 season, Brown averaged 2.0 rebounds per game for his career.
Donnavan Kirk swatted three shots against Norfolk State. He has recorded two or more blocks 13 times this season and three or more blocks in eight games this season.
Manu Lecomte hit three treys on Saturday, tying his career high, a mark he set Jan. 29 against Maryland. With 13 points, he scored in double figures for the second straight game and eighth time this year.
Erik Swoope recorded a season and career high four blocks. His previous high was two, set against UNF in November of 2011.
