Last week, New York Yankees LHP C.C. Sabathia offered his take on the new Mariner, Robinson Cano, being booed in his return to Yankee Stadium:
“It’s New York,” Sabathia simply responded.
Now in his sixth season with the Yankees, Sabathia knows that Yankee fans are not afraid to boo its stars that leave, or in his case, those that struggle to perform at the level they’re expected to.
Sabathia received a reminder of this Sunday, as he was booed after walking off the mound after surrendering ten hits and five earned runs in just 3 2/3 innings.
Sabathia can’t blame the fans for him being booed, though, as entering Sunday only the Indians’ Danny Salazer, and the Twins’ Ricky Nolasco and Kevin Correia had worse ERA’s than his 5.75 mark.
