Bye Week Ends as Gators Drop in Rankings
An eventful week in college football ended with the defending champion Alabama Crimson Tide avenging last year?s loss to Johnny Manziel and the Texas A&M Aggies, staking their claim as the top team in the land. And in the new AP poll, the Aggies dropped to No. 10.
In other news, one voter still gave Oregon a first-place vote. So there?s that.
But, as far as life in Gainesville goes, it was an uneventful week for the Florida Gators. Will Muschamp and his 1-1 squad spent the off week preparing for next Saturday?s SEC opener against the Tennessee Volunteers.
Let?s run through the things that happened in the off week, so we can return to our regularly schedule programming.
- Tennessee (2-1) got creamed by the No. 2 Oregon Ducks, 59-14. Their matchup against Florida next Saturday will kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET.
- Florida dropped another spot in the rankings without playing in Week Three. The Gators now sit at No. 19.
- Will Muschamp made it clear that freshman offensive lineman Roderick Johnson will be redshirted this season, regardless of a slew of offensive line injuries that have affected the Gators early in the season, including injuries to Tyler Moore (ankle), D.J. Humphries (MCL) and Jon Halapio (torn pectoral).
