NBA News: Bulls Adding Some Backcourt Depth
Just when you thought the Chicago Bulls were done with their offseason acquisitions, the Bulls will reportedly add another quality player in Aaron Brooks. Multiple media outlets are reporting that the Bulls are closing in on signing the distinguished point guard. Earlier this week the Bulls came to terms with Kirk Hinrich, Nikola Mirotic, and Pau Gasol.
Last season while splitting time between the Houston Rockets and Denver Nuggets, Brooks averaged 9 points and 3 assists per game. Previously Brooks has won the NBA’s most improved player award, after averaging over 19 points a game during the 2009-2010 season.
With Brooks in the fold, the Bulls might just have surpassed the San Antonio Spurs, for being the deepest team in the NBA despite losing out on the “Melo sweepstakes.”Next season the Bulls will feature a backcourt of Derrick Rose , Kirk Hinrich, and Aaron Brooks. Meanwhile their frontcourt is one of the best in the league with the reigning NBA Defensive Player of the Year in Joakim Noah, a 4-time NBA All-Star in Pau Gasol, and the NBA’s 6th Man of the Year runner-up in Taj Gibson. But the depth doesn’t stop there, as the Bulls also brought in the NCAA collegiate player of the year, in sharp shooter Doug McDermott, along with former Spanish League MVP, Nikola Mirotic.
With all of these new faces on the Bulls, Chicago will certainly be amongst the favorites to win the Eastern Conference, if not the 2015 NBA Championship. This current crop of players may be just what it takes for the Windy City to hoist their 7th championship banner into the United Center rafters.
