Just two days before the start of minicamp, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers traded away a sixth-round draft pick in 2014 for Chicago Bears offensive lineman Gabe Carimi [1], the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Pending results of a physical, which Carimi will undergo today in Tampa, the move will reunite him with Bob Bostad, his coach at Wisconsin and now the Bucs offensive line coach.

A first-round pick in 2011, Carimi was viewed as somewhat of a disappointment for the Bears, largely due to injury. He started two games at right tackle in 2011 before suffering a dislocated knee.

In 2012, he lined up at right guard, starting 10 games before being replaced by Jonathan Scott. He has underdone multiple knee surgeries since the injury.

If he can get healthy, he’ll provide quality depth along an offensive line that was rattled by its own share of injuries last season, including the loss of Pro Bowl guards Davin Joseph and Carl Nicks.

If all goes according to plan, Carimi will join the team for its three-day minicamp, which starts Tuesday.
