Bucs Trade Blount to Patriots

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have traded running back LeGarrette Blount to the New England Patriots in exchange for Jeff Demps and a seventh-round pick.

Earlier this offseason, reports surfaced that Blount was on the trading block. Speculation intensified when the Bucs signed free agent running back Brian Leonard.

Now the Bucs have one of the fastest, if not the fastest running back in the NFL.

A Florida Gators star running back, Demps chose to compete in the 2012 Olympics in track and field. He was on Tampa Bay’s radar last offseason, but signed with New England as a free agent instead, where he contributed on special teams.

The Bucs didn’t have a seventh round pick in this year’s draft and will now select 229th overall.
