Bucs Tight End Tom Crabtree Has High Ankle Sprain
Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Tom Tom Crabtree has a “significant” ankle sprain, Bucs head coach Greg Schiano announced in his Friday day-after-game press conference.
In the first quarter of last night’s 30-12 preseason loss to the Redskins, the former Green Bay Packer lined up at fulback and went to block for running back Mike James.
Crabtree twisted his right ankle and had to be carted off the field. X-rays taken shortly after revealed that there is no fracture to the leg.
Schiano said a timetable for recovery has not yet been determined and indicated Crabtree’s status for the season opener against the Jets is to be determined.
The team is currently not looking for any replacements, even at a position not considered particularly strong this year.
After Crabtree, the Bucs have Luke Stocker, who was challenging him for a starting role, and Nate Byham, who participated in 11 games last year and caught a touchdown against the Carolina Panthers.Bucs Tight End Tom Crabtree Has High Ankle Sprain by Jenna Laine
