The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have signed free agent wide receiver Louis Murphy, bringing the former Florida Gator and Lakewood High standout back to the Tampa Bay area.
It is a one-year deal.
Murphy, 26, spent the 2013 season with the New York Giants, seeing action in 14 games where he caught six passes for 37 receiving yards and a touchdown.
In 2012, Murphy started five games as a member of the Carolina Panthers, finishing the season with 25 catches for 336 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Murphy entered the league as a fourth-round draft pick by the Oakland Raiders in 2009. He went on to start 19 games for the silver and black, catching 90 passes for 1,371 receiving yards and six touchdowns in a three-year span.
In his five years in the league, Murphy appeared in 24 games with 71 starts, catching 121 passes for 1,744 yards and eight touchdowns.
At Florida, he helped lead the Gators to two BCS Championships and was named team captain his senior year.
