The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced some roster moves this morning, signing guard Roger Allen, guard Howard Barbieri, and linebacker Dom DeCicco.

Sports Talk Florida reported back in May that there was some interest in DeCicco, who played for special teams coordinator Dave Wannstedt at Pittsburgh, where he was a two-time All Big East selection.

DeCicco (6-4, 230), actually worked out for the Buccaneers in May, the week we reported it, but did not sign with the team. His signing gives the Bucs a lot of position flexibility.

In is two years with the Chicago Bears, DeCicco played in 20 games and was a fixture on special teams, recording 17 tackles in that department alone, while serving as a backup at both outside and inside linebacker.

Allen, (6-3, 325) returns to the Bucs after playing in four games with the team last year. An undrafted free agent in 2009 out of Missouri Western State, his NFL journey has included stints with the St. Louis Rams, New Orleans Saints, Carolina Panthers, and the Bucs.

Barbieri (6-5, 300), a Rutgers graduate, spent last year with the Baltimore Ravens but was cut by the team last year after suffering from a lower back injury. He also had a stint with the Houston Texans but has yet to see action in an NFL game.

To make room for these additions, the team waived cornerback Mason Robinson, tackle Brice Schwab, and tackle Jason Weaver.

Punter Michael Koenen has officially been taken off the Active/Non-Football injury list, a great sign considering what a huge blow it’s been losing kicker Connor Barth for the season.
