Bucs Select Michigan State DE William Gholston
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have selected Michigan State defensive end Williams Gholston with the 126th overall pick of the draft, the second of two fourth-round picks for the Buccaneers. Tampa Bay acquired this pick from the New England Patriots during the Aqib Talib trade.
Gholston is the second defensive lineman selected by the Bucs today. At 6-foot-6, 280 pounds, he registered 59 tackles for the Spartans last season, with 29 tackles for a loss and 9.5 sacks over the last two years.
Last year in the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl against TCU, he was named Defensive Player of the Game, recording nine tackles, a sack, and a pass breakup.
In the Outback Bowl the previous season, Gholston had a monster performance in the Spartan’s triple-overtime win. He finished with two sacks, seven tackles, a fumble recovery, and a pass breakup, and his five tackles for a loss ranks third among single game records at the school.
With two starters both coming off injury this year, Gholston provides depth and physicality at the position, not to mention he has experience taking on some of the bigger, physical offensive linemen of the Big Ten.Bucs Select Michigan State DE William Gholston by Jenna Laine
