Bucs Select Guard Kadeem Edwards in the 5th Round

Bucs Draft Kadeem Edwards

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers addressed a much-needed position Saturday, drafting an offensive guard in the fifth round with Kadeem Edwards out of Tennessee State.

Edwards was a four-year starter for the Tigers, seeing action in 45 games. He recorded 341 knockdowns and 39-touchdown-resulting blocks.

Through 24 games the last two seasons, he registered a combined blocking consistency grade of 89.59 percent, and 85 percent in 34 of his games.

He was one of 10 players from an FCS school to earn an invite to the Senior Bowl this year and the only player from an HBCU (historically black colleges and universities).

He was also the first Tennessee State player since Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie in 2008 and the first TSU offensive lineman since Michael Thompson in 2000 to earn a trip to Mobile.

A native of Sanford, Florida, Edwards helped lead Seminole High School to a state championship in 2008.
