Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Doug Martin suffered a torn labrum in Sunday’s 31-23 loss to the Atlanta Falcons, according to multiple reports and may be done for the year.
Martin landed hard on his left shoulder while making a leaping catch on a wheel route in the third quarter. He left the game and did not return. He finished with 14 carries for 45 rushing yards.
After the game, Martin spoke to reporters with his left arm in a sling, saying x-rays revealed no separation but that there would be further testing, including an MRI today.
“We’re still evaluating what it is,” Martin told ESPN’s Pat Yasinskas . “Just have to hope for the best.”
Martin exploded onto the scene as a rookie last year, rushing for 1,454 yards with 1,926 all-purpose yards and 12 touchdowns. He was named to the Pro Bowl as an alternate.
Through six games in 2013, Martin rushed for 456 yards on 127 carries with 66 receiving yards and a touchdown.
