Bucs QB Josh Freeman Speaks: ‘A Trade is the ‘Best Option’
Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Josh Freeman doesn’t want to leave Tampa Bay, but at this point, it appears that’s his best option.
“I don’t for a number of reasons, but bottom line is, if you want things to change, something’s gotta change. So at the end of the day, yes. I think that, moving forward, that might be…that is going to be probably the best option,” said Freeman in a sit-down interview with ESPN’s Josina Anderson.
“The bottom line – I am me as a player. I can’t worry about everyone else. I can’t worry about what everybody’s doing. I just have to focus on the best situation for me,” said Freeman.
The fifth-year starter had remained silent since being stripped of his starting job Wednesday, declining interviews Thursday at One Buc Place, avoiding any uncomfortable situations that could arise between him, new starter Mike Glennon, and head coach Greg Schiano.
“Obviously, the head coach has come out and said that this isn’t the place for me to be a starting quarterback, he doesn’t think that I give this team the best chance to win and I don’t agree, but at the same time, I’m a player, he’s the coach. So whatever happens next, I’m moving on. I’m going to be excited to go out and make the most of any situation.”
