Bucs need to trade for Washington’s Kirk Cousins
Josh Freeman is a very nice young man but he is not the kind of person who can guide a team to a Super Bowl. In the quarterback dominated NFL, Freeman comes up short on both the leadership and the talent it takes to take a team to the next level.
Freeman is the 4th best quarterback in his own division. Really, would you choose him over the Saints Drew Brees, the Falcons, Matt Ryan or the Panthers, Cam Newton?
Thursday, the Bucs will face the Washington Redskins, a team that features a true franchise quarterback in Robert Griffin, III. However, it is their backup quarterback that might be the answer for the Bucs, woes at that position. He is former Michigan State star and Redskins number 2, Kirk Cousins.
Cousins was a big help in filling in for fellow rookie RGIII when he was injured last year. Without him the Redskins would never had won the NFC East title. He is a very bright, poised and if you ask his teammates they will quickly tell that he is a take charge leader.
Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan said that Cousins reminds him of a young Tom Brady. A kid that is smart, has a great arm and stays away from the big mistake. I drafted him because he can be a franchise quarterback in this league.
There is no doubt that Cousins, will not come cheap and that could be a problem for the Bucs in getting him from Washington but they at least must try. If not then it might be time to give the keys of the offense to rookie, Mike Glennon.
He as shown promise while Freeman seems to be regressing.
I can tell you one thing for certain and that is the Bucs, quarterback of the future is not on the teams roster as of today.
