Bucs Name Jon Embree and Dave Borgonzi to Staff
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have made two more additions to Lovie Smith’s coaching staff, hiring Jon Embree as tight ends coach and Dave Borgonzi as defensive quality control coach, the team announced Thursday.
Embree spent the 2013 season coaching tight ends for the Cleveland Browns, helping Jordan Cameron earn a Pro Bowl finish second among tight ends with 917 receiving yards and earn a trip to the Pro Bowl.
Prior to Cleveland, Embree was the head coach at the University of Colorado for two seasons, from 2011-2012.
He was a sixth-round draft pick in 1987 by the Los Angeles Rams and played for two seasons, retiring after 1988.
Embree also spent three seasons as an assistant head coach at UCLA (2003-2005), working with both receivers and tight ends and had stints as a tight ends coach for the Kansas City Chiefs and Washington Redskins.
Embree’s father, John, played wide receiver for the Denver Broncos from 1969-1970.
Borgonzi spent the last three seasons as an offensive assistant for the Dallas Cowboys. Prior to that, he coached at Harvard University from 2008-2010 and Syracuse from 2006-2007.
