Bucs Interested in Gators Patton
What seemed as a dampened UF pro day due to inclement weather, former Gators wideout Solomon Patton still managed to shine bright. After having to move certain drills indoors, Patton dealt with the necessary changes.
Numerous scouts approached him telling of how they clocked him running the 40 yard dash around or below 4.3 seconds. Not bad considering he did it barefoot and spur of the moment on an indoor track.
Once all the drills were completed and everyone had escaped the rain, there were only but a few left. On the other practice turf, it was none other than Patton fielding a few punts for a couple of Tampa Bay Buccaneer evaluators.
“They [Bucs] talked to me for a long time, they said they need a guy like me especially for special teams… they showed a lot of interest and they definitely said they be back for a workout also.”
Last year as a senior, Patton set the school record averaging 29 yards per kick return. He led the Gators in receiving with 556 yards on 44 receptions. He was the most targeted receiver and led the team with six receiving touchdowns. Those six scores were tied for the most that a player had seen the end zone that season.
