Bucs Have QB Competition by Drafting Glennon

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers now have a quarterback competition on-hand — the team selected N.C. State quarterback Mike Glennon with the 73rd overall pick.

Just after the season ended, head coach Greg Schiano cited a need to create competition at the quarterback position. The team did just that, drafting one of the strongest arms in this year’s class, but also one of the most inconsistent.

Glennon passed for 4,031 yards, 31 touchdowns in his senior season with the Wolfpack, including five touchdowns against both UNC and Clemson.

He threw 17 interceptions last year, including four against Tennessee in the season opener, and 29 over the past two seasons.
