The Bucs’ trend for addressing the front seven on Day 3 continues with the team selecting Buffalo’s Steven Means in the fifth-round of the NFL Draft.
The 6-foot-4, 257-pound defensive end, who has been projected to play outside linebacker in the NFL, racked up 18.5 sacks during his career at UB. In his senior year, he recorded 6.5 sacks, 77 tackles, 11 tackles for a loss, and three blocked kicks.
Means began his career at UB in 4-3 system before making the switch to a 3-4. He played in 48 straight games at Buffalo, taking over as a starter midway through his freshman year and starting 43 consecutive games.
He did not receive an invite to the NFL Scouting Combine, and was projected as an undrafted free agent, but once he clocked an impressive 4.60 at UB’s Pro Day, NFL scouts took a closer look.
