Bucs' Crabtree, Nicks Ruled Out vs. the Jets; Dotson Misses Practice
When the Tampa Bay Buccaneers travel to New York to take on the Jets at MetLife stadium, they will be without left guard Carl Nicks and tight end Tom Crabtree.
On Friday coach Greg Schiano officially ruled both?players out for Sunday's game.
Neither Nicks nor Crabtree had practiced all week, although Schiano would not close the door on Nicks, who is undergoing treatment for a MRSA staph infection.
Crabtree is suffering from a high ankle sprain and has been wearing a walking boot around the facility, while Nicks has yet to be seen.
Nicks' replacement?figures to be?to?Gabe Carimi, a former first-round draft pick by the Chicago Bears who was traded to the Bucs this offseason.
A backup right tackle, he's?gotten the most reps at Nicks' spot this week.?Schiano said no decision has been made yet.
"I want to watch the tape from today and have a good discussion about that because plenty of guys got good reps at that left guard spot, but [Carimi] got the most so that's where we're leaning. We just want to see and make sure."
Starting right tackle Demar Dotson missed practice today with a back injury. Schiano said that it was precautionary.
"He was just aching a little bit. He had gone every day of training camp -- hadn't missed one -- so, at this point, I want to make sure he feels good Sunday. I don't want him feeling any aches and pains," said Schiano.
Some positive news on the injury front, and this doesn't come as a real surprise,?is that?cornerback Darrelle Revis is expected to play, which will mark his?return from a torn ACL last season.
Today marked the end of the third-straight week that Revis has practiced fully with the team.
"He's fun to [have at] practice, now that he's practicing with us the last couple of weeks, and I imagine the games are going to be even better," said Schiano of his All-Pro cornerback who did not take the field in a preseason game.
Rookie?running back Mike James, who suffered an eye injury against the Redskins in the fourth preseason game, has been limited throughout practice all week and is questionable.
Fullback Eric Lorig was limited all week in practice by a calf injury. He is also listed as questionable.
Rookie cornerback Rashaan Melvin is still suffering from a hamstring injury and did not participate in practice at all this week. He is?doubtful for Sunday's game.
