Very quickly new Bucs head coach Lovie Smith is starting to put together his staff and it looks like he will have Jeff Tedford as his offensive coordinator. He was the former head coach of the University of California and is widely regarded as an outstanding coach of young quarterbacks.
Some of the quarterback’s he has coached and worked with include the Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, Kyle Boller, Akili Smith and David Carr all were made better by Tedford’s teachings.
Tedford coached at Cal from 2002-12. During his entire coaching career, he has built up a reputation for churning out NFL-caliber quarterbacks. Two of his pupils — Aaron Rodgers and Trent Dilfer — have won Super Bowls.
Tedford is the winningest coach in Cal history with an 82-57 record. He was fired after the 2012 season, during which the Golden Bears went 3-9 last season. Still, Cal put up nine winning seasons during Tedford’s 11-year tenure.
On another topic ESPN Insider ChrisMortensen reported that Chris Ballard, the Kansas City Chiefs’ director of personnel, is the leading candidate to replace Mark Dominik as the Bucs’ general manager.
