Bucs Activate Cornerback Danny Gorrer
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have activated cornerback Danny Gorrer to the 53-man roster from the Injured Reserve/Designated for Return list.
Gorrer sustained a groin injury during training camp, an injury he aggravated during the Bucs’ first preseason game. In that game, Gorrer picked off Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco in the first quarter.
The injury kept him out of the remainder of the preseason and forced him to miss the season opener against the New York Jets. On Sept. 13, he was placed on the Injured Reserve/Designated for Return list.
Beginning last year, each NFL team can choose one player to go on the list. Last year the Bucs opted to place cornerback Anthony Gaitor on the list.
Gorrer, who underwent surgery for the injury, began practicing with the team two weeks ago.
A fourth-year undrafted free agent out of Texas A&M, Gorrer signed with the Bucs last season after being waived by this weekend’s opponent, the Seattle Seahawks.
Gorrer played in six games with the Bucs last season, including one start against the New Orleans Saints. He recorded eight tackles, two pass breakups and one interception in Week 16 against the St. Louis Rams.
The make room for Gorrer, the Bucs waived cornerback Bobby Felder.Bucs Activate Cornerback Danny Gorrer by Jenna Laine
