Bruce Arians Not a Fan of Bucs’ Antics

The Arizona Cardinals may escaped Tampa Bay with a win Sunday, but Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians was not a fan of the home team’s antics in attempting to rush the passer on their final kneel down.
With 48 seconds remaining, after rookie quarterback Mike Glennon was picked off by Patrick Peterson, Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer lined up at the Tampa Bay 42-yard line.
He took a knee, and the Buccaneers defensive line came charging at him.
“That’s their style. I’ve got no comment on it,” said Arians in his day-after-game press conference. The look on his face, however, said it all.
It’s a tactic typically not seen at the NFL level and was brought in by head coach Greg Schiano from his Rutgers days. It was first employed against the New York Giants last year and did not sit well with Tom Coughlin either.
“I don’t think you do that,” Coughlin said after the incident last September . “You don’t do that in this league. Not only that, you jeopardize the offensive line, you jeopardize the quarterback. Thank goodness we didn’t get anybody hurt — that I know of. A couple of linemen were late getting in.”
Arians said he was also not a fan of safety Dashon Goldson’s hit on wide receiver Jaron Brown, calling it “totally illegal, just like he always does.”
