British Open: Tiger Woods Hits Somebody in the Face, Henrik Stenson Goes All ‘Bo Jackson’
It was an interesting day for Tiger Woods in the first round of the British Open, his first major tournament since undergoing back surgery in March.
On one hand, he overcame a rough start, bogeying on his first two holes, and then climbing his way out to finish -3 (69).
But he also hit somebody in the face at No. 17, which caused all sorts of problems for everyone this morning.
The course marshal appeared to be okay. Woods parred at both 17 and 18.
The same cannot be said for Henrik Stenson’s club on the same hole. He went all ‘Bo Jackson’ and broke it over his knee in frustration as his ball wound up in some deep rough.
Of course, there’s footage of that too.
Stenson bogeyed the par-4 and finished the first round at even-par 72, putting him in a tie for 44th.
Woods began to look more like his old self starting at No. 11, birdying there and at 12, 13 and 15, nearly chipping in for an eagle at 16.
