Britain, Switzerland Reach Women’s Curling Semis
SOCHI, Russia (AP) — Switzerland and Britain completed the semifinal lineup in women’s Olympic curling on Monday, and Canada became the first female team to go through a round-robin campaign undefeated at the Winter Games.
The Swiss beat China 10-6 to qualify in third place behind Canada and Sweden, who reached the playoffs on Sunday.
Britain lost 8-7 to Denmark in the evening but a 9-6 win over Russia earlier Monday helped the world champions claim the other berth in the last four.
Japan could have earned a tiebreaker by beating Sweden but lost 8-4.
The Canadians defeated South Korea 9-4 to finish the round robin at 9-0.
Canada will play Britain and Sweden will take on Switzerland in the semifinals. They are the top four teams in the world rankings.
