Brett Anderson A Good Fit With The Tribe?
According to ESPN's Buster Olney, Cleveland might be a good fit for Oakland lefty Brett Anderson should they decide to move him:
As OAK considers trade of Brett Anderson, CLE could be a good match. Anderson relatively modest investment ($8m), potential for improvement.— Buster Olney (@Buster_ESPN) December 2, 2013
The Indians could use another starting pitcher since Scott Kazmir departed via free agency (and coincidentally signed with Oakland earlier today), especially since the once-heralded prospect turned mediocre big league starter Trevor Bauer is penciled into the #5 slot right now. Bauer was once thought of as the next Tim Lincecum (though that's not much to say at this point in time) but so far he has posted a 5.67 ERA in limited action in the majors.
Brett Anderson, on the other hand, is an above average big league starter albeit his injury concerns. In 2013, Anderson missed 4 months with a stress fracture in his right foot and ended the season in the bullpen. However, he does own a career 3.81 ERA in 450 2/3 big league innings and would bring a good left-handed arm into an all right-handed Indians rotation as it stands right now.
