BREAKING: Revis to play Sunday versus Carolina
Despite missing the entire second half of last week's game against the Detroit Lions due to a groin injury, Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Darrelle Revis will play Sunday versus the Carolina Panthers, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported.
Revis was held out of practice Wednesday and Thursday due to the strained muscle. He returned Friday but was limited,?a move?head coach Greg Schiano called a "step in the right direction."
Revis?was listed on the official injury report as questionable. He told Sports Talk Florida Friday that he would be a "game-time decision" and that he would need to?test the leg out once he got out?onto the field Sunday.
?It is what it is. I can?t control, well I wish I could control injuries, but I? can?t control my injury. When I feel ready to go, that?s when it?s time for me? to get out there and play," Revis said.
If at any point he needs to leave the game, the team does?have?a contingency plan.
He will be matched up against Carolina's leading receiver, Steve Smith, who had?four catches and 42 receiving yards when the teams last met in October.
?We feel that he is the key guy," Revis said of Smith. "He gets them going. He has a lot of emotion after catches sometimes. We want to take that away from them. We are playing great as a secondary, so hopefully we put another game in this week."
