Just a few hours after finalizing a deal with offensive tackle Anthony Collins, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have released starting left tackle Donald Penn.

“We want to thank Donald for all he has done for the Buccaneers both on and off the football field these past eight years,” Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht said in a statement.

Penn originally entered the league as an undrafted free agent with the Minnesota in 2006, joining Tampa Bay after being signed from the Vikings’ practice squad.

He went on to start 112 games during his eight years in Tampa with 108 consecutive starts, tying him for fourth most in franchise history.

“Starting 108 consecutive games in this league is quite an accomplishment and we thank him for his commitment and dedication to our franchise over the years. We wish him well in the future.”

The signing of Collins [2] allowed the Bucs to part ways with Penn, who counted more than $8 million against the cap.
