Braves leaving Turner Field in 2017?

The Atlanta Braves are working on a deal with Cobb County to move to a new 42,000 seat stadium about 1o miles north of Turner Field. The team likes the idea of being closer to their fan base and the traffic in downtown Atlanta causes many problems for the teams fans.
Turner Field was built for the 1996 Atlanta Olympic games and then fashioned into a baseball park. It is not old or outdated so there is some thought that this deal might be a move to get a better lease. We will soon see as the team will have to form the city of their plans because their lease is over in 2016.
According to ESPN the new stadium would cost about $672 million dollars and would be about 9,000 smaller than Turner Field. It also is counter to what is the trend in Major League Baseball with most teams building parks in downtown but the Braves draw most of their fans from Alabama, Tennessee, and South Carolina so they are a regional team.
Meanwhile, the Atlanta Falcons finalize plans for a $1.2 billion retractable-roof football stadium near downtown, which is also scheduled to open in 2017. New football stadium is expected to also be the home of the SEC Title Game as well as other major events.
The Braves said that financing will come from the team and the Cobb County government. The team will be responsible for any cost overruns.
The Brave brass declined to say how much taxpayers will be responsible for, saying that information as well as the length of the new lease will be made public soon. The Cobb Marietta authority will own the stadium, with construction scheduled to begin next summer.
