Branden Albert Cleared To Visit Dolphins
The Kansas City Chiefs have granted the Miami Dolphins permission to talk with left tackle Branden Albert in order to help facilitate a trade that could send the 6-foot-5, 316 pound tackle to Miami for a second-round choice, according to an ESPN.com report.
Albert is expected to visit his home-town Dolphins soon to take a physical. According to the ESPN.com report, Albert and his agent have permission to talk contract with the Miami Dolphins, but no other team.
The Dolphins have two second-round picks in the upcoming draft. The Chiefs are seeking a second-round choice after trading their only pick in the round to the San Francisco 49ers for quarterback Alex Smith.
Albert has stated that he wants a long-term contract after signing his franchise tender worth $9.82 million for 2013. Albert skipped the Chiefs’ voluntary offseason workout.
Because the two teams are working closely to approach a deal, it seems a trade to send Albert to Miami is a matter of when, not if.
