Bowden Returning to Campus for First Time
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Longtime Florida State coach Bobby Bowden is returning to the school’s campus for the first time since he left in 2009.
Bowden has attended book signings and made appearances at area churches since his departure after a 7-6 season two years ago, but he hasn’t been back for a game or any public functions on campus.
Bowden’s return has been widely advertised by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club which is sponsoring his appearance Tuesday.
The 82-year-old Bowden retired as major college football’s second most winning coach behind only former Penn State coach Joe Paterno. Bowden’s teams won 389 games on the field although the NCAA recognizes just 377.
Bowden’s Seminoles won national championships in 1993 and 199 and went 14 straight seasons between 1987-2000 with 10 wins or more.
