Bolts Ice The Blues 4-2. Return To 1st Place In Atlantic
The Tampa Bay Lightning moved back into a three way tie for first place tie with the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Detroit Red Wings atop the Atlantic Division. Alex Killorn registered a goal and two assists as the Tampa Bay Lightning doubled up the visiting St. Louis Blues 4-2 last night at the St. Petersburg Times Forum.
Brett Connolly, recalled from Syracuse of the American Hockey League on Thursday, broke a 2-2 tie in the third period. He tipped a Radko Gudas shot behind St. Louis goaltender Jaroslav Halak at 8:37, three seconds after a hooking penalty on the Blues' Vladimir Sobotka had expired. Valtteri Filppula then scored on a backhand that deflected in off St. Louis defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk with 3:59 remaining.
Steven Stamkos had the other goal for Tampa Bay, which has won two straight and five of its last six games overall. Ben Bishop made 28 saves to improve to 9-2-0 this season. Alex Pietrangelo and Jaden Schwartz both scored for the Blues, who were dealt just their second regulation loss (8-2-2). Halak stopped 21 shots.
