The Tampa Bay Lightning and Calgary Flames skated to a scoreless first period with each team killing off a power play opportunity. The big difference maker in tonight’s game thus far has been Flames goalie Karri Ramo who has stopped all 13 shots he faced.
Their was a chippy moment at the 5:10 mark when Bolts goalie Ben Bishop stoop up to glove a puck and took a crosscheck from Kevin Westgarth drawing an immediate response from the Lightning defenders. Later in the period Ryan Malone and Kevin Westgarth dropped gloves and each drew a 5-minute penalty.
When the Lighting are tied at the end of the first period they have a record of 11-5–2 – the Flames have a record of 7-4-2.
